Inspiring Plants work with a two highly experienced & skilled independent designers who between them cover a lot of garden design styles & plant types.
One Garden Designer specialises in coastal planting which means they can give you very valuable horticultural advice about what plants can survive and which can thrive in our unique coastal region. Getting this kind of advice early, before contracting your final garden or landscape designer can save a lot of time and often money lost due to unsuitable plant choices.
They also have extensive experience in suitable irrigation systems for private gardens, planting in pots, with their focus being on designing with hardy exotic plants, courtyards & planting in big pots, they can help you find special topiary like yew and cloud or Niwaki pruned trees. They also have expertise in screening plants & screening design often using plants you might not usually associate as screening plants which can hide the fact that you are actually screening your private space from your neighbours.
We have an agreement that if you contact them via this site their first two consultations will be on us.
Consultation One you will be given a list of plants that can thrive in and around the Chichester Area, with its unique maritime environment & climate. You will be able to talk though your garden ideas with them & get their feedback, suggestions & advice. If you like them & if your project qualifies they may be able to offer you a free design review. (We can only currently offer 3 of these per month)
What is a free design review: After talking through your project, if you like they and if your project qualifies, you will be able to email or whatsapp photos & simple measurements of your space (they will walk you through which measurements to take, it is a very simple process) & from these photos & measurements they will draw up a full design for you, this could take up to a week, but sometimes they like to do this straight after your meeting while eveything is fresh.

A note: at no stage of this free consult process are you ever committed to anything, there will never be any fee to pay for these two consultations, even if you walk away with the information and work with someone else. So why do we offer this, what’s in it for us? Quite simply almost everyone who consults either of these two designers decides to work with them, often for multiple projects over many years, this is why we work with them, they are amazing.
Andy Stedman Design (andystedmandesign.com) Situated between Chichester & Runcton.
Andy Stedman Design is made up of a team of garden designers & horticultural consultants. You may not have Andy personally doing your design, but it seems he is easy to access if you have questions specifically for him. They may not be the most cost effective option unless you have a very large project in mind. But it looks like they will treat you well and give you an amazing experience.
They have a very professional portfolio section to give you a taste of what they can achieve if given the chance. They also make a big deal of their showroom, which looks very impressive, so I think you will be taken care of when you visit. They also have an online booking system which makes it easy for you to find a slot to discuss your project that suits you.

Chris Casburn (bestgardendesign.co.uk) Situated in central Chichester.
This site doesn’t look like it’s had much TLC lately so I cannot be sure the owner Chris is still active, having said that, even though the site is not up to the standards of Andy Stedman Design, we should not judge a book by it’s cover.
If you dig into the site a little further you will find some before-during-after pages, which will show you what Chris at Best Garden Design has achieved. The results are very clean & crisp with an emphasis on landscape design rather than planting.

Chichester Gardens Ltd (chichestergardens.com), Situated Just North of St Richard Hospital.
Chichester Gardens Ltd, have undertaken some magnificent looking projects, if you have a big project in mind then these guys look like they can help you achieve what you looking for. I personally found the site very professional but a little impersonal. They offer a lot of different services, garden design and landscaping being one of many.
Their recent projects feature a high proportion of tree surgery work, which suggest to me that Garden Design may not be their main focus. But they seem to offer a very rounded service and can most likley help you with any garden related project you might have in mind.
